In healthcare, argon plays a precise role in cryosurgical procedures, where controlled freezing is applied to destroy unwanted tissue without damaging the surrounding area. Argon lasers are used in ophthalmology to repair retinal tears and in other surgical settings to remove tumors or correct vascular defects.
Argon also improves everyday building products. It fills the gap between double and triple pane window panels, slowing heat transfer and reducing energy loss in both commercial and residential construction. Argon is preferred over air in these applications because it is denser and transfers heat less efficiently, which translates into better insulation performance without increasing window weight or thickness.
